Job Description
Siemens Energy is looking for a Technical Support Manager – Field Service to join our team. This role involves providing support to high-profile customers across Nigeria, West Africa, and Africa. The successful candidate will offer first-level engineering and technical support for control systems, package, and mechanical issues to both internal and external customers. This includes creating work-packs and procedures for outages and projects.
Responsibilities
- Offer technical support expertise for control systems, package, and mechanical issues.
- Develop work-packs and procedures for outages and projects.
- Analyze and troubleshoot problems, offering professional guidance to resolve issues.
- Occasionally travel to provide onsite technical support.
- Ensure adherence to company and customer EHS policies.
- Provide first-line support to field service engineers during shutdowns and projects.
- Manage the preparation and creation of work-packs for field service engineers.
- Offer 24-hour support through an out-of-hours support hotline.
- Implement processes for report approvals and design modifications.
- Maintain technical libraries, shared drives, and knowledge databases.
- Collaborate with the service engineering department to optimize procedures.
Project Role
- Deliver specialist tasks on time and within budget.
- Support major projects and oversee assigned specialist tasks and manpower.
- Coordinate complex troubleshooting activities.
- Contribute to the development of methods and technical policies.
- Identify and generate new business opportunities.
Customer Liaison & Communication
- Communicate technical issues clearly and effectively.
- Liaise with both internal customers (PCC, Market Support, Management, Engineering) and external customers (end users, suppliers, regional entities).
Complexity of Work
- Perform complex technical tasks related to rotating equipment.
- Understand and coordinate various technical activities.
- Contribute innovative ideas and insights to resolve challenging issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical knowledge and information within the field.
- Contribute to training field engineers, conducting technical audits, planning work, strategic development, and maintaining Health & Safety standards.
- Generate technical procedures and reports for customers.
Requirements
- University degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, or Mechanical Engineering (minimum 2:2) or equivalent.
- Currently working towards or has COREN status.
- Over 10 years of experience in rotating equipment and engine systems or equivalent field experience.
- A master’s degree in engineering is a plus.
Technical Knowledge & Experience
- Over 10 years of experience as a Controls System and Mechanical Engineer.
- Proven technical expertise in rotating equipment.
- Proficient in MS Office tools, including MS Project.
- High awareness of commercial and market considerations.
- Graduate-level competency in various engineering disciplines.
- Experience in decision-making and technical judgment.
- Ability to develop new approaches and strategies.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of control systems, engine, and compressor mechanical systems.
- Ability to diagnose related problems and work with product lead centers.
- Provide support to customers’ field staff and PCC through the Service Help Desk.
- Communicate effectively and maintain clarity under pressure.
