Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager with experience launching card products in African markets to lead the strategy, adoption, and customer experience for our new card offerings. The role involves collaborating across teams to deliver innovative payment solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and implement the strategy for launching and scaling card products tailored to the African market.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Compliance, Sales, and Marketing teams to create card products that meet customer demands and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Identify customer pain points to ensure the product delivers an outstanding user experience.
- Define clear product roadmaps and manage the entire lifecycle, from ideation to launch and continuous iteration after launch.
- Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes in African markets to keep the card products competitive and compliant.
Responsibilities
- Securing New Partners: Identify and establish commercial agreements with the right local partners (processors, acquirers, distributors) to facilitate product launch.
- Launching New Card Products: Successfully introduce a new card product within the first 6 months, ensuring seamless integration with existing payment systems and meeting all compliance and operational standards.
- Driving Product Adoption: Achieve 10x growth in customer adoption within the first year through effective go-to-market strategies and customer engagement efforts.
- Evolving the Product Proposition: Transition the card product from a simple spending tool to an expense management solution for strategic enterprise customers.
- Geographical Expansion: Prepare the go-to-market strategy for expanding into two new African markets within the first 12 months.
- Security and Scalability: Define, design, and implement processes and systems that enable the product to scale to a multi-million-dollar offering while minimizing fraud and chargeback losses.
- Enhancing Customer Experience: Ensure a 95% or higher customer satisfaction rate by identifying and addressing friction points in the customer journey.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Ensure alignment across teams—Engineering, Compliance, Design, and Marketing—to deliver the product roadmap on time and within scope.
- Market and Compliance Insight: Ensure products comply with financial regulations in African markets and stay competitive in comparison to market offerings.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor key product metrics and make data-driven decisions to continuously improve the product.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
- Experience: 6+ years of experience as a Product Manager, with a proven track record of launching card products in African markets.
- Domain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of payment products, including both virtual and physical cards.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with payment systems, APIs, card-issuing platforms, mobile-first solutions, as well as chargeback and fraud management strategies.
- Market Insight: Strong knowledge of the African financial ecosystem, including customer behavior, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
