Position Overview
The role requires a strategic approach to sourcing, managing, and overseeing the procurement of IT equipment, commercial inventory, and related materials and services. This includes ensuring the right price, quantity, lead time, and quality are met while maximizing cost efficiency and delivering optimal service to Airtel’s customers. The position also involves driving visibility, analysis, and cost reduction initiatives across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure IT solutions, hardware, devices, SIM cards, and services (both CAPEX and OPEX) including Managed Services and AMCs, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
- Manage the RFI/RFQ/RFP process for renewing BPAs and rate contracts for IT solutions, services, and infrastructure across Airtel Nigeria. Analyze responses, negotiate prices and lead times, and allocate business shares with necessary management approvals.
- Oversee quarterly release of OPEX POs and manage overall cost analytics and program management for business-wide cost efficiency.
- Conduct detailed spending analysis, cost risk assessments, and forecasts while identifying cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with functions to define and run the cost efficiency program.
- Lead operational and governance meetings and produce detailed analysis and management reports.
- Develop and manage contracts with new and existing vendors, ensuring timely renewals before expiration.
- Oversee rate contracts for IT equipment/services and monitor usage for compliance.
- Drive improvements in internal audit scores by ensuring compliance with sourcing processes and addressing gaps in the internal control environment.
- Implement cost optimization strategies for passive projects, focusing on OPEX reduction and efficient use of resources, including diesel.
- Manage the user group and the team responsible for creating and approving purchase orders in a timely manner.
- Develop and assess new vendors, conducting periodic partner performance reviews and monitoring SLAs for passive vendors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Science, Social Science, or a related field.
- Master’s in Business Administration.
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Chain.
- Over 5 years of experience in sourcing/procurement management, preferably in the technology or IT procurement industry.
- Strong ethical standards, analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively, multitask, and collaborate.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and high integrity.
