Job Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing daily inspections and maintenance tasks on Turbine/Boiler Balance of Plant (BOP) systems to ensure their optimal operation and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform shift inspections of turbine/boiler auxiliary systems.
  • Maintain Turbine BOP units with a focus on preventive measures to maximize reliability and uptime.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with turbines and other equipment.
  • Repair faulty components, including pumps, motors, and other machinery.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure others in the vicinity of the Turbine BOPs follow proper safety procedures.
  • Carry out routine maintenance of spare parts to ensure their availability when needed.
  • Implement and uphold data protection policies in line with Egbin Power Plc’s guidelines.
  • Comply with NDPR and other data protection laws, ensuring best practices are followed in data management.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments as necessary to minimize risks during data processing activities.
  • Familiarize with and support the application of QHSE policies and departmental goals.
  • Be aware of and comply with Integrated Management System standards (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, & 45001:2018), understanding the consequences of non-compliance.
  • Identify and assess hazards, risks, and environmental impacts associated with the job.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Power.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a power generation plant, refinery, or industrial process plant.
  • Experience with steam turbine operations or thermal power plants is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of turbine systems.
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures for turbines.
  • Understanding of safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work well in a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills in a professional setting.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
