Job Overview

The Asset/Inventory Management Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient management, tracking, and optimization of company assets and inventory. This role ensures proper maintenance, utilization, and accountability of assets, materials, and equipment, and implements control processes to meet industry standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the complete lifecycle management of company assets, from acquisition to disposal, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation of all assets.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and spare parts while reducing excess or outdated stock.
  • Implement and maintain asset tracking systems to provide real-time data on asset location, condition, and status across departments and fields.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and stock assessments to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
  • Keep accurate records of all inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, returns, and transfers, ensuring prompt reporting and data integrity.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and optimize stock levels, balancing cost efficiency with the availability of critical items.
  • Work closely with the procurement team to coordinate the replenishment of stock and ensure timely delivery of materials based on operational requirements.
  • Ensure that all inventory management activities align with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines, including health, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Identify and address risks related to asset management and inventory control, such as theft, damage, or stock shortages, and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Leverage technology, such as ERP systems and inventory management software, to improve asset tracking and inventory control processes.
  • Provide regular reports to management on asset utilization, inventory status, and stock performance.
  • Lead and mentor the inventory and warehouse operations team, providing visible leadership and guidance.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPS) are a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the oil and gas sector.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • In-depth understanding of asset management, inventory control processes, and supply chain management within the upstream oil & gas industry.
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems, ERP software (such as Oracle), and asset tracking tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret inventory data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to optimize stock levels and asset use.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams across departments (procurement, maintenance, operations).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory records and asset tracking.
  • Strong risk and compliance management skills.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory abilities.
