Job Purpose
The Assistant Manager, Process Safety will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems to ensure the safe operation of company facilities. This role will focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating process safety risks across the organization.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain PSM systems, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Identify and assess process safety risks and create strategies to mitigate them.
- Implement risk-based approaches to prioritize and manage process safety risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure risk assessments are performed and documented in line with company procedures.
- Review and approve facility designs, modifications, and operating procedures to ensure process safety compliance.
- Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Design and execute training programs to ensure staff competency in process safety procedures.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with PSM systems, procedures, and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and industry partners to share best practices and align with industry standards.
- Provide technical leadership in the design, review, and optimization of engineering systems to ensure adherence to process safety standards throughout the lifecycle of facilities, pipelines, and production locations.
- Oversee the integration of process safety principles into engineering designs, operational procedures, and maintenance strategies.
- Lead the technical evaluation of critical safety systems, ensuring they meet safety integrity levels (SIL) requirements.
- Drive Asset Integrity Management (AIM) programs, focusing on technical assessments, predictive maintenance, and monitoring of pipelines, pressure vessels, and rotating equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to enforce technical standards for P&ID reviews, process simulations, and equipment selection, emphasizing safety-critical elements.
- Mentor and train engineering and operational teams on advanced process safety principles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices.
- Use advanced data analytics and real-time monitoring to evaluate the performance of process safety systems and drive improvements in safety, efficiency, and reliability.
- Oversee technical reviews of Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure modifications meet safety and engineering standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Safety Manager.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in a related discipline is advantageous.
- At least 10 years of experience in process safety, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., ISPON, NES, IOSH, COREN, MNSE, IIRSM).
- In-depth knowledge of process safety management systems, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, API, ISO).
- NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety.
- NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management.
- ISO 45001 and 14001 Lead Auditor Certifications are desirable.
- NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of HSE Management Systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in administrative tasks, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Strong project management experience, especially in EPCIC projects.
