Job Summary:

The Chemical Operations Technician will support chemical treatment processes, manage the operation of the condensate polishing plant, oversee the demineralization of groundwater, and assist in the functioning of the estate water booster and water treatment plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining the reliability and availability of the condensate polishing unit and online analyzers.
  • Aid in producing and storing sufficient quantities of demineralized water for plant units.
  • Support chemical treatment processes necessary for steam purification.
  • Ensure the operational readiness of the condensate polishing plant for units 1-6.
  • Perform regular maintenance of the condensate polishing unit and online analyzers.
  • Conduct routine inspections of online meters and manage the injection of agents.
  • Contribute to optimizing the equipment’s lifespan.
  • Assist with the operation and upkeep of the estate water booster and water system.
  • Carry out local patrols and monitor equipment functionality.
  • Help the chemical process engineer with demineralization plant operations.
  • Monitor and condition Boiler Feed water.
  • Record readings and test results accurately.
  • Maintain a daily log of water sample analysis (every two hours) and identify irregularities.
  • Ensure zero impurity deposition in the power cycle.
  • Perform daily checks on critical plant factors such as chemical levels, sand filter levels, and pump efficiency, ensuring they remain within safe operational limits.
  • Prepare, analyze, and monitor Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) levels weekly at the Hydrogen Plant.
  • Conduct regular sampling and analysis of water samples, maintain bulk chemicals in the water treatment plant, and ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals.
  • Complete any additional tasks assigned by the Section Head or Chemical Process Engineer.
  • Provide periodic reports for the Chemical Process Engineer’s review.
  • Adhere to data protection policies, ensuring compliance with NDPR and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments as needed to mitigate risks during data processing activities.
  • Maintain awareness of QHSE policies and departmental objectives, ensuring adherence to Integrated Management System standards (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, 45001:2018).
  • Recognize hazards, risks, and environmental impacts related to the job.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum OND in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with the operation of CPP plants and online analyzers.
  • Understanding of water treatment plant functions.
  • Knowledge of demineralization plant operations.
  • Proficient in laboratory techniques and practices.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of power plant chemistry, steam-water systems, and effluent treatment.
