Job Summary:

The Metal Work Fabricator is responsible for designing, assembling, modifying, and repairing machinery, equipment, and metal installations within the facility. This position requires expertise in metal fabrication, welding, machining, and interpreting technical blueprints to ensure that machinery is constructed to specifications and operates efficiently. The role also involves close collaboration with the maintenance and production teams to optimize systems and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication & Assembly:
    • Manufacture and assemble machine components using techniques such as welding, cutting, and machining.
    • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate fabrication of machine parts.
    • Operate various fabrication tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment.
    • Ensure that all fabricated components meet precise dimensional and structural specifications.
  • Machine Modification & Repair:
    • Modify and repair machinery and equipment to improve functionality and extend operational life.
    • Inspect fabricated parts for quality, alignment, and performance.
    • Collaborate with the maintenance team to troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Quality Control & Safety:
    • Conduct inspections to ensure fabricated parts and machines meet required specifications and safety standards.
    • Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards in all fabricated components.
    • Perform load tests and operational checks to verify machine performance before production deployment.
    • Follow all safety protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling tools and materials properly.
  • Collaboration & Documentation:
    • Work alongside the engineering team to develop custom machinery solutions.
    • Maintain detailed records of fabrication projects, including design modifications and materials used.
    • Provide technical support and training to machine operators as needed.

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in machine fabrication, metalworking, or mechanical assembly.
  • Practical experience in welding (MIG, TIG, Arc), machining, and operating CNC machinery.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, CAD drawings, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of industrial machinery and automation systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair abilities.

Soft Skills:

  • High attention to detail and precision in fabrication tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
