Position Overview

The Operations Planning Lead will oversee, coordinate, and optimize operational activities within the JV, ensuring efficient use of resources while adhering to production schedules and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive operational plans and schedules, ensuring alignment with JV goals, timelines, and budget limits.
  • Collaborate with Drilling, Completions, and Production teams to ensure seamless integration of planning efforts.
  • Work closely with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely resource delivery for production activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to boost efficiency and productivity.
  • Partner with project managers to develop risk management strategies and contingency plans to address potential challenges or disruptions in production.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, and partners to ensure continued support for operational activities.
  • Oversee staff handling liquid lifting scheduling, gas dispatching, custody transfer metering, production accounting, and reconciliation tasks.
  • Manage resource allocation plans, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies (NUPRC, NNPC, NAPIMS, NCDMB, etc.) to ensure completion activities comply with regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks during production operations.
  • Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts, incorporating best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational processes and outcomes.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports to key stakeholders, outlining performance metrics and production milestones.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading and managing complex operational projects in an oil-producing asset.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality results within deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving priorities and work effectively in dynamic environments.
  • Knowledge of operational planning, project management principles, and industry best practices.
  • Experience working in both onshore and offshore settings.
  • Strong understanding of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) standards and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations and work in challenging conditions when necessary.
  • In-depth understanding of well operations, production management, logistics, and supply chain processes.
  • Experience in performance metrics analysis and operational optimization strategies.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • An advanced degree (Master’s) is a plus.
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as PMP, are an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Operations Planning within an oil-producing asset, with specific experience in the Niger Delta/Rivers region essential.
