JOB PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this role is to manage, oversee, and ensure the seamless execution of Unilever Nigeria’s monthly payroll process. You will provide support to global, regional, and local teams throughout relevant operating and audit cycles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Payroll Specialist, your duties include:
- Ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, collaborating with finance, reward, global payroll, and equity teams to compile, review, and reconcile data before sending it to the bank.
- Managing all exit calculations, including voluntary and company-initiated exits, ensuring adherence to timelines and processes.
- Monitoring payroll operations to ensure compliance with legal standards, the Code of Business Practice (COBP), and the Global Financial Controls Framework (GFCF).
- Overseeing the processing of statutory deductions and ensuring accurate remittance to regulatory bodies for employee and institutional payments.
- Updating payroll systems with new reward cycles, collective bargaining agreements, and time and attendance data for payroll accuracy.
- Preparing statutory deduction reports for finance, including tax, life insurance, pension, cooperatives, and share deductions.
- Generating monthly payroll Service Level Agreement reports (CSR).
- Leading payroll projects and process improvement initiatives, collaborating with IT and Finance.
- Preparing annual reports and managing end-of-year processes such as taxation and write-offs.
- Supporting the implementation of payroll transformation projects, process improvements, and necessary adjustments.
- Communicating reward and payroll schedules, guidelines, and updates.
- Collaborating with the Reward Manager to ensure the success of the reward cycle, including engaging with the Global Equity team for operational efficiency.
- Participating in Reward operational processes, providing payroll compliance input.
- Managing Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) administration, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintaining relationships with external regulatory bodies and partners.
- Overseeing payroll controls and governance for Nigeria, including audits (internal and external).

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- University graduate
- 5-7 years of payroll management experience (preferably in FMCG)
- Proficient in HR Information & Payroll Systems
- Solid understanding of the local pay and reward context
- Knowledge of Nigerian labor laws
