Role Overview:
The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for managing a loan portfolio and leading a team of Field Credit Officers (FCOs) in a designated state. This role focuses on setting performance targets, managing credit risk, maintaining portfolio health, and fostering business and product growth. Collaboration with teams in Products, Risk, and Operations is essential to enforce credit policies and ensure effective loan disbursement and repayment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Oversee and guide Field Credit Officers, ensuring they meet performance objectives aligned with company goals.
- Provide ongoing mentorship, conduct performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and support professional growth.
- Portfolio Oversight and Expansion:
- Develop strategies to grow a strong and profitable loan portfolio in the assigned state.
- Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, including loan approvals, disbursements, and repayments, to ensure targets are met.
- Recognize potential risks and market trends, taking proactive steps to maintain the health of the portfolio.
- Credit Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to the organization’s credit policies and procedures.
- Review and approve loan applications suggested by FCOs, making final decisions where needed.
- Perform regular credit risk assessments and collaborate with senior managers to refine credit evaluation frameworks.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal standards related to credit operations and portfolio management.
- Prepare and deliver portfolio performance reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation and ensure it complies with all required standards.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient loan servicing and disbursement processes.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with clients and community stakeholders to strengthen the company’s market position.
- Handle and resolve any escalated customer concerns related to the loan portfolio.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify inefficiencies in credit administration and recommend system/process enhancements.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activity, adapting strategies to maintain competitiveness.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of relevant experience in lending, credit, or portfolio management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in credit risk analysis and financial assessments.
- Strong knowledge of financial sector regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven success in managing and growing a loan portfolio in a dynamic environment.
- Must reside in the designated state of responsibility.
