Job Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities to ensure efficiency. This includes managing resources, optimizing workflows, and upholding safety and hygiene standards. The role involves planning resources, managing processes, supervising factory personnel, and meeting production targets within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resource Management:
    • Oversee the allocation and management of resources to meet production targets and timelines.
    • Ensure the right number of factory workers are assigned and available for production.
    • Prepare and manage accurate production schedules based on resource availability and capacity.
    • Coordinate maintenance of production equipment and machinery.
    • Create and manage checklists for resources and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Process Management:
    • Ensure production begins on time and manage any unavoidable delays.
    • Supervise production, allocating resources to meet daily targets.
    • Provide data on production performance to help set future goals.
    • Recommend strategies to continuously improve production processes.
  • Communication:
    • Report production plans, challenges, maintenance needs, and downtime to the Production Manager.
    • Facilitate smooth handovers of tasks and supervision when required.
  • Time Management & Attendance:
    • Complete tasks within set deadlines and notify management of delays at least 24 hours in advance.
    • Ensure punctuality and adherence to production schedules.
  • Housekeeping, Hygiene, and Safety:
    • Supervise cleanliness and order in all production areas, ensuring proper segregation of materials.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols at workstations.
  • Records & Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and timely filing of records for easy access and analysis.
  • Supervision & Team Development:
    • Evaluate team performance, identify training needs, and recommend suitable training programs.
    • Administer disciplinary actions according to company policies.
    • Enforce company policies and consult superiors when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Food Science, Agribusiness, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in production supervision.
  • Familiarity with GMPs and HACCP systems.
  • Experience with production equipment and capacity planning.
  • Strong planning, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work according to the production schedule of the factory.
