Job Summary

The role involves overseeing DCP Nigeria’s budgeting, financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, cost and revenue management, and fixed asset accounting. The key responsibility is to ensure that financial records are accurate and comply with best practices and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the department’s operational strategies, policies, procedures, and systems to maintain a strong financial framework that aligns with DCP’s broader objectives.
  • Contribute to the creation of budgeting guidelines, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices and local regulations.
  • Manage the budgeting process, ensuring contributions from all business units comply with established guidelines, and escalate any deviations.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Continuously update and document financial forecasts, and perform ratio analysis.
  • Collaborate with other departments on financial assessments of projects, business models, and plans.
  • Assist with the evaluation of projects and initiatives, providing critical information for management decision-making.
  • Supervise the preparation of financial reports to ensure they comply with DCP’s accounting policies and IFRS.
  • Implement effective internal financial control systems to ensure compliance with Nigerian reporting regulations and the integrity of financial statements.
  • Develop and document DCP Nigeria’s credit policies, ensuring alignment with best practices and monitoring credit exposure.
  • Ensure cost-effective utilization of financial resources to achieve business objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, implementing strategies to prevent revenue loss.
  • Provide oversight of fixed asset accounting and ensure adherence to organizational policies regarding asset management.
  • Supervise regular updates to the Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual, ensuring compliance with group standards.
  • Stay informed about changes in macroeconomic policies and advise the Group CFO on their business impact.
  • Oversee the preparation and approval of departmental budgets and expenditures in line with authorized limits.
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, and support for department and plant activities.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports on department and plant performance.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Group CFO.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional qualifications such as ACA, CIMA, CPA, or ACCA.
  • A minimum of 20 years of relevant experience, with at least 10 years in a senior managerial role.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of economic factors and their impact on business.
  • Knowledge of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and legislation in the cement manufacturing sector.
  • In-depth understanding of foreign exchange operations and regulations.
  • Proven expertise in strategic financial planning and analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial accounting practices and IFRS.
  • Solid business acumen, including financial and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
