Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to lead our sales team in Lagos, Nigeria. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, formulating and executing sales strategies, and building a high-performing sales team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sales strategies to meet revenue targets and expand Vertofx’s customer base in Nigeria.
- Lead and manage a team of sales representatives, providing coaching, guidance, and mentorship.
- Conduct market research and analyze competitor activities to stay competitive.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including upselling and cross-selling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and customer success, to deliver solutions to clients.
- Manage sales budgets, forecasts, pipeline, and performance tracking.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of sales performance, using data to refine strategies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market developments, and competitors to maintain a competitive edge for Vertofx.
- Develop and implement sales processes and procedures, including sales enablement and training programs.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and continuously improving culture within the sales team.
- Grow Revenue: Achieve sales revenue growth within the next 12 months.
- Sales Cycle Length: Shorten the average sales cycle.
- Conversion Rate: Increase the conversion rate of leads to opportunities by 25% within the next 9 months.
- Sales Team Productivity: Increase the number of sales calls/meetings per week.
- Sales Forecast Accuracy: Ensure accurate sales forecasting.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of sales management or banking/payment experience in a B2B role.
- Proven success in achieving revenue targets and building high-performing sales teams.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in CRM software and sales tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- In-depth knowledge of SMBs and connections within key business sectors.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in international trade, logistics, or payments/banking.
- Knowledge of African markets and trade regulations, particularly in Nigeria.
- Fluency in additional local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, etc.).
- Experience with sales analytics and performance management tools.
- Certification in sales management or a related field.
- Experience with sales enablement and training programs.
