Project Overview
The Ubeta Project involves the pre-Final Investment Decision (FID) engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of the UBETA Wellpad to Obite treatment center. This includes an 11km pipeline, high-voltage power, and fiber optics cable. Located on OML58 near Port Harcourt, Nigeria (onshore), the project is currently in its early stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously collaborate with the CPLO to ensure lifting and handling standards are upheld across COMPANY’s JV offshore sites.
  • Advise the RSES teams for OML99, OML100, and OML102 on lifting and handling matters.
  • Regularly coordinate with contractors to ensure their lifting operations align with COMPANY’s lifting and handling procedures.
  • Conduct periodic lifting audits for OML99, OML100, and OML102.
  • Develop and maintain rigging loft procedures, ensuring proper management and control.
  • Work alongside other lifting teams to ensure lifting equipment and procedures meet standards during daily operations.
  • Review and approve Lifting Operations Plans for critical lifting and handling operations in coordination with the CPLO.
  • Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for critical lifts and oversee the execution of these lifts within JV offshore operations.
  • Provide expertise on day-to-day handling and lifting operations, including lift categorization, hazard identification, risk assessment, and technical reviews of procedures.
  • Assist the CPLO in assessing personnel competence for lifting and handling tasks.
  • Ensure toolbox talks are conducted at the start of each critical lifting operation.
  • Perform technical inspections of cranes and select lifting equipment for site use.
  • Prepare and periodically review generic lift plans.
  • Develop and regularly review site-specific lifting and handling procedures/instructions.
  • Coach and mentor personnel involved in lifting operations, including crane operators and riggers.
  • Liaise with COMPANY-approved third-party inspection agencies for lifting equipment inspection and certification campaigns.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to COMPANY rules (e.g., CR EP HSE 043) and lifting procedures (Lifting Management System) for handling and lifting operations.
  • Ensure completion and signing of the SLS Pre-lift Checklist before initiating any lifting operation.
  • Apply appropriate methodologies and procedures to assess and manage hazards associated with lifting operations on JV offshore sites in accordance with the Lifting Management System (LMS).

Qualifications and Experience

  • A technical degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in lifting and handling operations.
  • LEEA/NSL certification up to Level 4.
  • In-depth knowledge of various types of lifting equipment and operations.
  • Ability to prepare and review lifting engineering calculations and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in English.

Work Location and Schedule

  • Offshore Nigeria or other designated onshore sites within Nigeria.
  • Rotational schedule: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off, working 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week. Shifts may vary depending on operational or transportation requirements.
