Position Overview

We are seeking a Team Lead for KYE Compliance to oversee that our operations and business activities adhere to all relevant legal and internal policies. This role involves reviewing team members’ work and offering compliance guidance. The primary objective is to ensure we operate ethically and legally while achieving our business goals. Core Responsibilities

  • Employee Background Checks: Perform thorough background checks, including criminal and regulatory verifications, to ensure new hires meet the bank’s compliance and ethical standards.
  • Ongoing Monitoring: Track employee conduct to identify potential risks or conflicts of interest, ensuring compliance with both internal and regulatory standards.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure accurate and secure documentation of KYE-related records, updating them as required by regulations and preparing for audits.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address employee-related risks that may impact the bank’s integrity, working with senior management to implement mitigation strategies.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Stay updated on local and global regulations such as AML, KYC, and employee-related laws, ensuring the bank’s vetting processes comply with these requirements.
  • Internal Audits: Contribute to audits, assess the effectiveness of the KYE framework, and recommend improvements.
  • Training & Awareness: Create and deliver compliance training for staff, promoting a culture of ethical practices and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Legal, and Risk Management to develop policies that promote compliance across the organization.
  • Incident Management: Report suspicious activities or violations to senior management and regulatory authorities in line with legal obligations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends and regulations, helping enhance the bank’s internal policies and practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., ACAMS, ICA) are a plus.
  • Experience: At least 4-5 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related area, ideally in banking or financial services, with familiarity in KYE, KYC, and AML regulations.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Nigerian banking laws, AML, employee compliance, and data protection regulations.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and communication skills, confidentiality, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and compliance tools.
