Job Summary
As the Regional Account Manager, you will play a key role in building and nurturing long-term relationships with clients across Nigeria, engaging with key business executives and stakeholders. You will serve as a primary point of contact between clients and cross-functional internal teams, ensuring the timely and effective delivery of solutions tailored to customer needs. This role involves managing and developing client accounts to foster strong relationships while adapting to the evolving product roadmap.
The Regional Account Manager in the Retail Growth Unit will oversee the performance and expansion of retail operations in their region. Reporting to the Head of Retail Growth, you will lead a team of Account Managers and Field Activation Officers, aligning regional activities with the company’s strategic goals. This position demands a deep understanding of the FMCG distribution chain, digital solutions, and the ability to drive sales and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Formulate and execute regional growth strategies to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify new growth opportunities.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Account Managers and Field Activation Officers to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating team members.
Sales and Business Development:
- Cultivate strong relationships with key accounts, stakeholders, and executive sponsors.
- Collaborate with Sales and Product teams to develop strategies for acquiring new clients and expanding existing relationships.
- Support the Sales team with professional services and the implementation of new solutions.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure the timely delivery of solutions that align with customer needs and objectives.
- Serve as a liaison between Product Engineering, Pre-Sales teams, and clients to swiftly address technical issues.
- Oversee the implementation of digital solutions in payments, ordering, marketing, and B2B marketplaces within the region.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Forecast and track regional performance metrics, providing accurate reports to senior management.
- Analyze customer usage patterns to identify opportunities for improvement or additional support.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build trusted advisor relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
- Effectively communicate progress on monthly and quarterly initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience and Skills Required
- Proven experience in regional management within the FMCG or retail sectors, with at least 10 years of experience driving growth.
- Strong understanding of the FMCG distribution chain and digital solutions.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating across departments.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
