Job Summary:
As a Payable Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable function within the finance department. Your main tasks will involve accurately processing invoices, ensuring vendors are paid on time, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. Additionally, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the overall financial stability of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and control vendor payments across all levels (Central & Workshop).
- Manage GRIR and SIIR accounts effectively.
- Oversee central store transactions and perform reconciliations.
- Reconcile vendor accounts and ensure accurate payment processing.
- Generate cheque requisitions through SAP after securing all necessary approvals.
- Post payment vouchers and retirement JVs.
- Reconcile payable reports to verify the accuracy of paid amounts.
- Review all vendor transactions, taxes, and GL postings.
- Supervise and review the posting of approved debit notes and employee advice notes.
- Forward debit notes to payroll for salary deductions.
- Review vendor account reconciliations and address any discrepancies.
- Coordinate with the store to resolve any outstanding bills.
- Ensure invoices received in the store are reconciled with SAP postings for accuracy.
- Ensure that payment vouchers initiated by accounting officers are posted before the period closes.
- Supervise the collection of paid vouchers for cash call reimbursements.
- Process trade adjustments to client accounts promptly and accurately.
- Reconcile payments to confirm the correct transactions in the accounting system.
- Collaborate with the vendor support team to communicate updates on systems used for reconciling positions and fees.
Qualifications and Work Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is a plus.
- 5 to 9 years of relevant experience.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in accounting systems, especially SAP.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance related to accounts payable.
- Proficient in MS Office tools.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
