Job Overview

As a Finance Officer, Payables, you will oversee the accounts payable operations within the finance department. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring the accurate processing and recording of invoices, timely vendor payments, and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers. You will also be essential in maintaining precise financial records and contributing to the organization’s financial stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review vendor payments across both central and workshop levels.
  • Oversee the management of GRIR and SIIR accounts.
  • Handle central store transactions and their reconciliations.
  • Reconcile vendor accounts regularly.
  • Create cheque requisitions in SAP following proper approvals.
  • Post payment vouchers and retirement JVs.
  • Reconcile payable reports to ensure accurate payments.
  • Review vendor transactions, tax matters, and general ledger postings.
  • Supervise the posting of approved debit notes and adjustments to staff accounts.
  • Coordinate with payroll to ensure deductions for debit notes from monthly salaries.
  • Review vendor account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with the store team to resolve any pending bills.
  • Ensure all invoices in-store match SAP postings to verify accurate capture.
  • Ensure accounting officers’ payment vouchers are posted before period-end.
  • Supervise the collation of paid vouchers for cash call reimbursements.
  • Process trade adjustments to client accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reconcile payments to guarantee the correct accounting system transactions.
  • Work with the vendor support team to ensure smooth development of reconciliation systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is an advantage.
  • 5 to 9 years of relevant work experience.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in accounting software, especially SAP.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements for accounts payable.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
