Job Description
We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Lead for Credit and Risk Management to strengthen and oversee our credit risk policies, frameworks, and processes. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a balanced risk-reward approach while contributing to business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit risk, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance, ideally within the fintech or digital lending sectors.
Responsibilities
Credit Risk Management:
- Review and approve credit applications, ensuring they align with established risk acceptance criteria (RAC).
- Evaluate financial statements, credit scores, and other key data to assess applicants’ creditworthiness.
- Conduct second-level loan assessments, offering clear recommendations for approvals or rejections.
- Develop and implement comprehensive credit risk and scoring models, tailored to the fintech lending environment.
- Define credit policies, underwriting guidelines, and risk limits to maintain a balanced portfolio.
- Continuously monitor the portfolio’s performance, identifying risk indicators and early warning signs.
- Enhance decision-making through data-driven insights and advanced analytics.
- Lead stress testing of loan portfolios to ensure resilience against economic changes.
- Track non-performing loans (NPLs) and ensure they stay within acceptable thresholds as per credit policies and regulations.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and regulatory updates in credit risk management.
- Create training programs to elevate the credit risk analysis and management skills of team members.
- Demonstrate service excellence in all tasks.
- Perform any other related duties as needed.
Risk Strategy & Governance:
- Develop and maintain risk management policies that align with regulatory and industry standards.
- Conduct stress testing, scenario analysis, and loss forecasting to assess and manage potential risks.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to ensure risk strategies align with the organization’s business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations concerning credit and risk management.
Fraud Prevention & Mitigation:
- Implement and oversee fraud detection measures using AI, machine learning, and advanced technologies.
- Develop proactive fraud risk assessment strategies to minimize financial and reputational damage.
- Work closely with other teams to investigate and analyze suspicious transactions and patterns.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Partner with data science, technology, and product teams to enhance risk assessment models and digital lending products.
- Collaborate with external regulators, auditors, and credit bureaus to ensure compliance and optimize credit risk management frameworks.
- Train and mentor teams on risk management best practices, regulatory requirements, and credit assessment methods.
- Support the development and implementation of automated processes for efficient credit operations and collections.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory policies and internal credit guidelines.
- Oversee audits and regulatory examinations, providing necessary documentation and insights.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in credit risk management, underwriting, or risk analytics, preferably in fintech, digital lending, or banking.
- Expertise in financial analysis, credit assessment tools, risk modeling, credit scoring, and statistical analysis.
- Experience using AI/ML-based risk assessment tools and alternative credit scoring models.
- Familiarity with credit bureau data, KYC/AML regulations, and digital lending frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance in credit and risk management.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience with risk assessment tools, data analytics platforms, and credit decision engines.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, data-driven fintech environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster cross-functional collaboration.
