Job Description:

We are looking for a committed Verification Officer to ensure the health and quality of poultry provided by farmers. This role focuses on verifying poultry health, welfare, and quality, ensuring they align with required standards. The officer will collaborate with farmers to conduct inspections, suggest improvements for farm operations, ensure industry compliance, and promote the success of poultry production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify that birds provided by farmers are healthy, meet quality standards, and are free from disease.
• Conduct regular farm inspections to check poultry housing, feeding systems, biosecurity practices, and overall management in line with industry standards.
• Monitor bird health by identifying symptoms of disease, offering disease prevention guidance, and ensuring proper vaccination and treatment.
• Ensure compliance with animal welfare, environmental health, and safety regulations.
• Keep accurate records of bird health, inspections, and compliance for audits, ensuring proper documentation.
• Advise farmers on best practices related to poultry nutrition, housing, and disease prevention.
• Provide ongoing education to farmers through training sessions, workshops, and on-site assistance.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports with findings and recommendations for management.
• Ensure that all poultry meet Pullus Africa’s quality standards before distribution.
• Collaborate with teams, including Extension Services and Health Management, to address farmer challenges.
• Recommend improvements in farm management, production processes, and quality control to enhance efficiency.
• Identify and resolve issues in poultry production, working with farmers to implement corrective actions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in poultry farming, animal health management, or quality assurance in agribusiness or the poultry industry.
• Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in teams.
• Familiarity with poultry farming industry regulations and standards, along with proficiency in digital tools for reporting and record-keeping.
• Must be based in Kaduna.
