Responsibilities

The Instrument Controls Coordinator must have a solid understanding of safety, health, and environmental (SSHE) requirements and offer expertise to maintenance teams. As a subject matter expert, they provide technical guidance for processes, procedures, and equipment related to instrumentation and control systems (I&C), including analyzers and control systems. The role requires strong maintenance skills for these systems and the ability to support troubleshooting efforts, participate in constructability and maintenance design reviews, and assist engineering teams with routine maintenance, Turnaround activities, or new project support.

This position demands the ability to influence without direct authority and work effectively with both operational and maintenance teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to engage with diverse groups and network across organizations. The role may involve responsibilities such as supporting maintenance design philosophies, providing technical input for risk assessments, incident investigations, and pre-FEED studies, as well as coordinating cost management and productivity improvements.

The Instrument and Controls (I&C) Specialist will offer operational assistance during peak workloads and provide input into training development and delivery. Additionally, they will share best practices, participate in company networks, and develop personal expertise while sharing knowledge with others through networking.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Behavioral Skills: Adaptability, analytical thinking, collaboration, and effective communication.
  • Functional Skills: SSHE management in operations and maintenance, maintenance planning, scheduling, and management, with a focus on I&C systems.
  • Relevant certification(s) or equivalent professional experience in the field.
  • Strong communication skills, able to clearly describe field conditions and recommend solutions.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively, even with individuals over whom the role holder has no direct authority, and willingness to assist others.
  • Capacity to work under tight deadlines, manage heavy workloads, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
